Student Life

 

Early Childhood Center

 

Children ranging from the ages of 3-5 years old are eligible for admission to our academic program. Students MUST be fully toilet trained and able to eat independently. Daily hours of operation are 7:45 AM -5:00 PM. Classes begin at 8:00 AM. Mandatory Chapel service begins at 9:00 AM daily. Students must be picked up by 5:00 PM; late pickups will NOT be tolerated. Nursery and Pre-K students have a mandatory rest period; a freshly laundered sheet/blanket must be provided each week. An extra set of clothing should be left in the classroom for toileting accidents. There is a mandatory school dress code. Hot lunch, snacks and gym are available for an additional fee.

 

Hygiene And Feeding Habits

 

All children accepted by the Ebenezer Preparatory School Early Childhood Center MUST be fully toilet trained and able to feed him/herself. Teachers are not responsible for the cleaning of students after the students uses the bathroom, nor are teachers responsible for spoon feeding of students during mealtimes. Parents are required to provide lunch and snacks for their children. However, hot lunch can also be purchased at the school for a small fee.

 

Uniform

 

Students in the Early Childhood program are required to wear the complete school uniform daily. Uniforms can be purchased at Ideal or Cookies’ Department Store.

 

Rest Period Nursery-prek

 

All children must have a nap after lunch. Each child must bring at least one complete change of clothes, a small sheet and blanket. All articles of clothing must be labeled with his/her name on it. We will keep them in case of spills or toileting accidents. To protect your child’s health, sheets and blankets should be taken home every Friday for laundering. Please provide a freshly washed sheet/blanket each week.

 

Grades 1-8

 

Daily hours of operation are 8:00AM- 2:45PM. Mandatory Chapel service begins at 8:15AM daily. Students MUST be picked up by 3:00PM. The academically based After-School program is from 3:00 PM – 5:45 PM. Late arrivals and pickups will NOT be tolerated. There is a mandatory school dress code; textbooks are provided on loan by the school. Students MUST have a Holy Bible (King James Version), and a Hymnal for chapel. Hot lunch, snacks, and gym are available for an additional fee. Bibles, Hymnals, Ebenezer Tee-shirts, sweat suits, caps and drawstring bags can be purchased at the school.

 

Chapel

 

Chapel begins daily at 8:15 AM. All students are required to attend and participate. Please provide your child with a Holy Bible (King James Version). School Calendar

 

An updated calendar of activities is distributed to all students at the beginning of the school year. Please use this calendar to determine planned school openings and closings. If modification to the calendar becomes necessary, notifications will be sent via email by the Administration of Ebenezer Preparatory School. Please be sure to check with your child periodically for school communications. In addition, we send out reminders prior to all closings. If for some reason all media fails, please feel free to contact the office for updated information.


Ebenezer observes all public holidays including Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Day, President’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. We close for the Thanksgiving, Christmas, Mid-Winter and Easter Recess.

 

Lunch

 

Hot lunch is provided by the school for a small fee. Students may also bring lunches from home. Please provide your child(ren) with lunch on trip days. Students will not be allowed to leave the premises to buy lunch.

Dismissal

 

School ends at 2:45 PM. Parents are expected to make necessary arrangements to have their child(ren) picked up by 3:00 PM. If this does not occur, child(ren) will be placed in the After School Program and you will be assessed a fee of $10.00 per hour, per student. You are required to contact the office at 718-629-4231 to inform us of any unexpected delays.

Other Public Emergencies/Tragedies

 

It is important that we all have a plan to deal with the unexpected. In the unfortunate event of an emergency, please call the school at 718-629-4231 or email us at [email protected] to give a status. We will not leave any student on their own to await a parent or guardian pickup. The school will remain open until the last student is picked up.
