Chapel

Chapel

Chapel serves as the daily spiritual enrichment for our students and staff. Ebenezer Preparatory School is associated with Ebenezer Missionary Chapel, Inc., founded by Pastor Marshall in 1976. As a church-sponsored institution, Pastor Marshall believed that children can best develop their potential through daily exposure to the Holy Bible in their varied academic activities.

Chapel for Grades 1-8 is held daily from 8:15 AM -8:45 AM in the sanctuary. Chapel for our Early Childhood Center is held daily from 9:00 AM- 9:30 AM in the cafeteria. All students are required to attend and participate. The children sing songs, listen to a short devotion or sermonette, and memorize Scripture verses from the King James Version of the Holy Bible . We also have special combined Chapel Services to celebrate School Choice Week, Black History Month, Easter, Teachers’ Appreciation Week, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our super talented students render exceptional presentations in song, dance, drama, and recitation during these special, most memorable events.

Chapel Services are also used to make announcements and recognize our Student of the Month and Honor Roll recipients. Parents and guardians are welcome to attend chapel services and special events.

Students in Grades 1-8 are required to have a Holy Bible (KJV) and Hymnal for daily Chapel Services. Bibles and hymnals are available for purchase in the office. Please contact us at 718-629-4231 or email us at [email protected] for more information.

At the end of every chapel service, students will sing the Ebenezer School Song, recite the Pledge of Allegiance and sing the National Anthem. The Black National Anthem, “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” will be sung on special occasions.

Ebenezer School Song

(Lyrics & Music by Iris Pilgrim)

*EBENEZER, the school of our choice
EBENEZER, we lift up our voice,
To God the Creator, and Jesus the Savior,
For all we were taught and the hope it has wrought
To EBENEZER, we’ll be loyal and true,
EBENEZER, may your skies be all blue,
Ever onward! Upward! Forward!
EBENEZER, we do love you (repeat)*
EBENEZER, EBENEZER, EBENEZER,
Three cheers for you!!

The Pledge Of Allegiance

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America
And to the republic for which it stands….
One Nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Lift Every Voice And Sing

Lift every voice and sing: till earth and heaven ring
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty let our rejoicing rise,
High as the listening skies, let it be resound loud as the rolling sea
Sing a song fill of faith that the dark past has taught us
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on till victory is won.

Stony the road we trod, bitter the chast’ning rod,’
Felt in the day that hope unborn had died;
Yet with a steady beat, have not our weary feet,
Come to the place on which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past, till now we stand at last
Where the white glean of our bright star is cast.

God of our weary years, God of our silent tears,
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who has by thy might, led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray

Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met thee,
Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget thee,
Shadowed beneath thy hand, may we forever stand,
True to our God, True to our native land.

The Star-spangled Banner

O say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light.
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night, that our flag was still there
O say, does that star-spangled Banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave
